A cute and clever variation on the magical girl staples, which is bit of a pity because some of the strengths of this anime seem reduced by the genre requirements. The central character is Chacha (Akazukin relates to her red hood?) who is a young magical girl, but that's fine because everyone else is magical too. This includes a young wizard and a cute werewolf who compete for her attention, their two sensei who compete with each other (and are really amusing) and various other magical students at the magical school (and the teacher of class banana rascal-sensei). There is a wealth of visual and situational humor and some good characterisation and writing, making for an enjoyable watch. In the background lurks a faceless evil figure who launches various, and often insane, incompetent or both, evils to defeat chacha. Actually the evil beings often get some of the best lines. Sadly all this action means that the episode has to be concluded by a transformation into a bow armed older form of herself who defeats the monster with one shot, which is often an anticlimax. The animation is competent, the writing, humor and action all work together and the characters are interesting. I don't see this one mentioned often, but if you like cute, good natured humor I think you'll enjoy this one.

Hey,Lord Carnage has a positive review in which he says the humor and character of the series is enough to overcome the magical girl neccesities.
