One of the first OAV series I saw, and it has a lot to recommend it, being a good cyberpunk tale of violence, conspiracy, political convenience and intolerance. The plot concerns the murder of intelligent androids, who are now generally hated to the extent that many question whether it is murder. We get to see this through the eye's of the robot hating tough cop and his female partner, both of who change over the course of the series. Sadly the male, Ross syllabus (mono-syllabic?) is boring, but acts as a reasonable straight man to the nicely done Armitage. There are other problems since the animation has an `old' look to it, the technical design is average and the ending is very ambiguous. Still, some good character work, some nice action sequences and an interesting plot make this a very watchable series. There is also a movie version (called polymatrix) which boasts `name' actors, but which is actually just the 5 episodes cut together (and down), but the OAV is much better.
