Abstract:   This is the category for anime made simply because the producers thought it would be fun to do. Tends to be high energy, humourous stuff. It might not have much depth, but a bit of flash and pace can make a nice change now and then.

Some anime plumbs the depths of the human condition and tells deep stories that touch the soul. Other anime seems to have been produced simply because someone thought it would be a bit of fun or look cool, or even simply because it would be sellable. A lot of really bad anime comes from this origin, but some of it has its own sort of energy and attractive simplicity that can make up for any other faults. Common faults generally include a simple story, often borrowed directly from a manga, a video game or even perhaps just a set of character designs. The simplicity of the story allows fast introductions, fast pace of events and a conclusion within a small number of episodes. This genre is also often marked by a willingness to sacrifice believability for some nice action and impressive scenes and almost always a large number of attractive female's in unlikely attire (often combined with a side order of fan service). There is often a fair amount of humor to keep the pace going. Dialog is often simple and restricted for the same reason. Note that a lot of anime has some elements of this genre. The usage of this tag will be restricted to where the rating is given in view of the typical weaknesses of this genre. Still, there are times when a dose of something from this genre is just what you want.
