Abstract:   A visual symbol for a character being shocked or suprised.
This is a visual shorthand for a character being completely shocked or suprised by an unexpected, often comedic, development. It is represented by having the character fall to the ground face-forward, as if they have suddenly been knocked over by the stupidity of the situation. It seems to occur most often when a suddent transition for serious to ridiculous has occured. It should not be hard to find examples of this phenomenon, although I am not sure that this name has much validity. See also big-sweat. |
