Abstract:   Japanese word which means a character with lots of health and energy.
This is relatively rare, but just so useful for anime. The word is Japanese and stands for something along the lines of `energetic, positive, resilient' as qualities in a human. It may also have ties to the concept of the energy of youth. Why it is useful in anime is because of the wide profusion of anime characters, generally young females, in whom this is a prime personality model. One of the best archetypes of this type is Miaka from fushigi Yugi, but there is no shortage of other candidates. One of the phrases occasionally heard is, `too genki for her own good'. |
