 		    Abstract:   A term for a simplistic plot structure which is based on a new opponent to meet and defeat each week.

Often used of TV shows, where the episodic nature and short timescale for production tends towards formulaic plots. It generally means that each episode revolves around the appearance of a new creature/danger/opponent which the hero(s) will defeat by the end of the episode. This is always a negative comment. This is considered a staple element of the magical girl genre, but is certainly not that limited.
