See shounen ai. I have seen very little of this material, but I believe it is explicit sexual encounters between men for consumption by a female audience. Often produced as doujinshi featuring homosexual encounters between mainstream anime characters, possibly with a parody element. Since the appeal of this material lies at the intersection of asian and female i'm not even going to attempt to understand it, but it is a word worth knowing. A Usenet poster named Ochame stated that in Japan Yaoi is only used when speaking of doujinshi, so even explicit commercial material counts as Shounen-ai. Of course usage outside of Japan may be less strict, especially since doujinshi production is not an issue.
