I finally worked it out! This anime splits neatly into two parts. If an episode opens with a big-breasted woman in astoundingly revealing clothing (ep 1,4,5) then get ready for the full on perv treatment. If an episode opens with a scene setting (ep 2,3,6) then expect a more drama based ride. Attempt to connect the two types and watch your mind explode. Anyway, before I get ahead of myself let me give you the story. A young guy, clever, talented and physical leaves uni early before graduating his law degree. He's met all the requirements, he just wants to study life, and thus he takes a series of temp jobs which land him into some very interesting and varied situations. All of these stories center around women who, you guessed it, are either super sex objects or girls in some sort of personal crisis.
Thus a lot of time is spent watching the main character. He alternates between an intense, capable, and caring student of life and the most comical, lecherous perverted sex-fiend seen since Ataru Moroboshi (from Urusei Yatsura) easily able to do the impossible. Of course being an OAV this thing isn't limited by television standards, so some of it is very ecchi (and very detailed for that matter). Of course the secret is to have enough plot to make it something more than just an ecchi title. Thus the problems he meets always contain a challenge that, through enthusiasm and hard work, he meets and learns from. As mentioned the balance between these two elements varies. And in general your enjoyment of this anime will depend on how much you enjoy ecchi, or how willing you are to tolerate some pretty full on stuff to get to the story. Either way it is an interesting experiment, but the rather chaotic mixture, and the fact it doesn't take itself too seriously, keep it from being either really bad or a true classic. Some may also find his ability to master any task in a couple of weeks, when needed, as somewhat patronizing. The conclusion, set in an anime studio, is somewhat self indulgent (giving all the women from past episodes cameo roles) but is an interesting and largely fitting conclusion to this interesting series.
The animation is quite attractive, with a good feel for character expression, pose and action. Like all lust filled anime comics he is capable of super human abilties when aroused, so there actually is some physical action, which reaches its height in a bike race in episode 4. On the other hand, when trying to solve problems, he often gets into fights (I swear the guy wouldn't have a tooth in his mouth at the series end) but this doesn't take up too much time. In between there's a bit of character work, or character comedy, both of which are competently done. The character designs are nice, the attention to detail in the anime is good, the girls are attractive (as required) and the physical/pervy humor seems well done. I have to say how ever that I found changing from sub to dub very painful. It is a difficult role, and I don't want to blame the VA, but it really didn't work for me...I strongly suggest the sub if possible.
