This short series is the most recent member of a family, consisting of Iczer1 and Iczer3. The series focuses around hard-suits, of alien design, that have been spread throughout the universe to fight off a rampaging army of aliens with a tendency to obliterate entire planets. One of these suits (they are sentient) selects an earth school girl, and wrestling fan, as its new pilot. Of course since the question of what happened to the old pilot is valid, and the aliens are enthusiastic about a new plaything, she very believably wants nothing to do with it. There are elements of horror, a lot of action, but the story is as simple as you might expect. The suits are not particularly brilliant, and some of the attacks are very silly, but still quite good action fare. Sadly just as the momentum builds it all comes to a rather abrupt end.
The folks at THEM take a far less tolerant view, emphasizing shallow characters and story in this review but admitting it can be low brow fun. There suggestion of a possible R rating comes out of the blue though, there is a nudie transform and some violence but nothing that would require that sort of rating.
