There are really only two flaws with this otherwise good example of romantic comedy anime. The primary problem is that you won't really understand the characters, or care about their actions, without prior knowledge. This entire series has the feeling of something to extend the experience for existing fans, rather than something that can exist independantly. This is a serious flaw because the OAV is far more common. This is further compounded by the second flaw which is that the episodes are independant and often quite action centric, which further reduced the chances of getting to know these characters. Indeed I found Kyosuke to be quite unsympathetic and Hikaru little more than a caricature despite my best efforts. On the other hand a KOR fan will probably love it, and the production values are quite good (with some nice music). The writing seemed a bit brutal (but then one crisis per episode is tough) but KOR fans will probably get more out of what is there. So, this may be a disappointing introduction to the KOR world, but should serve to whet your appetite for more.

This was originally listed under the Shoujo genre, but was removed after a discussion on usenet. Akemi's AnimeWorld mentions that the stories are darker and more risque than the TV incarnation in this review and "highly recommends" watching the TV series first.
