Macross 7 (1-4 of 49 TV Episodes)
Wow...The macross pages rave about how cool this is, stating that at episode
16+ it really turns up the heat. I'll have to take their word for it because
there is no way i'm going further than episode 4. The animation is painfully
bad, both uninspired and cheap looking, with the design being no better. I
felt forced to hunt out an ancient robotech tape and verify my suspicion that
even ancient material (15 years?) is still superior to this. The character's
are way too cool for their own good (but what do you expect of combat rock-stars?)
and the script and story are poor. If you can watch four episodes in which the
lead grunter jumps into his personal mech, flies into the middle of a firefight
and then plays guitar at people while dodging all fire (what does he steer with?)
in each episode you are a stronger person than I. The aliens always flee before
he can finish and I can fully sympathize with them.
