The heroines of the first series are drawn once more to the world they defended as it faces the continuing effects of the crisis in the first series. Not much time seems to have passed and the girls still possess all the powers they gained in the first series, although their opponents may be less clear and more powerful than those they have faced before. Sadly this leads to some problems, there is a strong feeling of sequelitis after the fitting conclusion of the first series. This is enhanced by the return of all the characters from the first series, which occupies a great deal of the first 8 episodes. In addition the power level of the series continues to climb from the original, which makes it feel more like sci-fi and super-hero stuff than the somewhat more subtle scale of the first series. Still, it is hard to blame the creators for giving the many fans of the original what they wanted. It will be interesting to see if the developing story can overcome this somewhat slow and shaky start.
