This is an excellent example of one way to do a sequel, use the characters established in one series (The Tenchi series in this case) and make a new playground for them. In this case the focus is Sasami, and the plot is pure magical girl, although part of the fun is the self-parodying nature of the show. This includes Sasami's less than enthusiastic response to her `gift', some way silly monsters, her powers and even her opponent, the energetic extrovert `pixy misao'. Of course if you hate magical girl shows, think self parody is an indication of desperation and don't like the tenchi-verse much of the show could fall very flat. The animation is quite good, but nothing astounding, the plots are (intentionally?) fairly simple and the character's are quite strong. The humor is of the energetic, good-natured sort and is often visual rather than clever. An agreeable watch, but I have to say that Card Captor Sakura probably does it better.
