This is actually a reasonable watch, the main problem is that it just seems a bit flat, and leads to suspicions that the original Rumiko Takahashi manga probably does it better. The title refers to mermaid flesh, which will render the eater either into an immortal or an insane monster. The story explores just how weird such people can become given their different view of both time and their fellow humans. The animation is clean, the characters are interesting, but in the end it is too short to really tell a full story, or get the full brooding horror bit going. Neither is there enough gore or action to satisfy those whose tastes run that way. In conclusion it feels like a competent but soulless anime adaption of the manga, in which case why not read the manga? Bonus points, however, for actually calling it an OAV rather than a movie.
