A very pleasant suprise. How tough to be a high school genius scientist, when it's easier to make an android copy of the object of your desire than approach the real thing. Of course the truly clever would have realised that this just means you have two women to deal with, and what if the two should meet? Drawing heavily from shoujo this tale is fun to watch, but there is also action, humor and even a little (tastefully handled) sexual references to keep the pot bubbling. The animation is sparse and light, but works quite well in this context, and the writing is excellent. Sadly while there is a (suprising) ending it is far from a conclusion, leaving me at least with a hunger for more, as seems to be the case with OAV distilled from manga I don't have access to. And bonus points for Hibiki Kennou, so much character in a single episode (episode 2).

Metal Angel Marie appears to be the name under which ADV have released a dub version. I advise getting both so you can fully appreciate how a bad dub can completely destroy the charm of anime. In addition the dialog is heavily re-written (not for the better), which gives reason to doubt the accuracy of dubs in general.

There is a short review at anime genesis who recommend it.
