The combat version of `Please save my Earth'? A group of disparate individuals, some of them school children, in the modern world get a forced lesson in history. And this ancient history is far from dead and buried, being determined to take over their lives and possibly re-shape the future. This allows aztec inspired persona's and magic to intrude into the modern world, and given that the aztec's were very far from being pacifists, and that ancient feuds are now free to continue, conflict is sure to be close at hand. Indeed the atmosphere is quite rich and dark, with various members of the large cast having their own secrets and agenda's and many having a propensity for ready violence. This is helped by quite complex dialogue.

This is a modern production with complex backgrounds and good character animation but is plagued by moments of odd appearance (computer assisted?) and some of the most lame, badly integrated computer backgrounds I have ever seen in an anime (only attempted occasionally though). Still, the story looks promising if given time to develop. Also, bonus points for the scary classical music (Bach) on the opening, a very good scene setter, this use of music is continued throughout the series and is good but perhaps a bit direct. Negative points for some of the strangest most impractical outfits, albeit aztec inspired, i've seen. Bonus points for Megumi getting to do a mature, romantic (?) role.

There's a tentative recommendation from Lord Carnage but he dislikes the music as well as the character outfits. There is a very positive review of the dub version at the Anime Review site.
