This really should be titled something like "Ninja kiddy picnic" as these are some of the least disciplined ninja you've ever seen. They have lots of combat ability but none of the style and stealth that has made ninja such a staple of anime. The plot has the same problems, with the ninja's home base having been routed some time ago, but still apparently full of untouched magical scrolls. These ninja, for a graduation exercise, saunter into this base, retrieve various scrolls, and destroy the place for good measure. There is also a subplot in that one of the Ninja, and a fairly easy guess who, is a hidden princess with secret powers. The animation, and even action scenes, on this piece are quite good and the characters are illogical but interestingly rendered. It is just a shame that the writing appears to be too weak to make this formula work, although I haven't seen that much so perhaps there is hope for the future.
According to a Usenet thread these two episodes were only intended to `blood' some anime novices and only two episodes were planned. It doesn't conclude because the creators probably hoped they'd get to do more, but it doesn't look like that happened.....what a shame.
