There is no great value in giving a plot to this movie...that simply isn't the point. Effectively a woman takes a vacation to work at a farm, and considers some of the events and choices she has made in her life. But the film is a lot richer than that. Think mood and character, think about that wonder everyone must have for how their childhood shaped them, add a bit of romance and growth and get Hayao Miyazaki to help stir the pot. Then, unless this sort of thing is complete anathema to your tastes, go find out for yourself. Another nice thing is to see a mature woman (27) in anime. Also, be very careful to keep watching during the closing credits for a conclusion, and an example of what can be done so well in animation (sniff). Still, if you demand action and epic conflict in all your anime you can safely leave this one alone.

Once again THEM show their ability to appreciate a diverse range of anime in this excellent review although i'm not sure why they call Toshio an idiot, jealousy perhaps?
