Title Info
Normally I don't like sequels, but this seems to be a good example of how to do it. Otaru and his marionettes, having been victorious in Saber Marionette J, are ready to enjoy life when complications start to set in. Firstly the wandering, and reformed (we think) Faust has sent his three saber's to learn from Otaru, another Saber comes into existence and there's a dark conspiracy in the background to keep things bubbling. In a lot of ways this works because we get another dose of the characters we love as well as getting to see some aspects of the characters who were enemies (or minor characters, such as lorelei) in the original. Add this to a story that is sufficiently interesting in itself and you have a product worthy by itself, and a treat for fans of the original. The animation is similar to that in SMJ, nice and bright with interesting design, but some of the computer assisted work is way too obvious and unsettling. The sound is good and the writing well paced and competent. |
