This is a fairly accurate rendition of a short story from the original manga. The animation is decent but somewhat unusual, but actually seems to work well when representing the spirit and atmosphere of the original. The various characters, especially miss China (who really provides the engine for the whole series) are well represented and fun to watch. The story itself, about crazed inventors and their latest masterpiece is nicely linked into a subtle romantic sub-plot. I don't think the author fully realises what a bad event it would be if what he depicts actually happened, but it provides a clean conclusion. This a fun mood piece, worth seeing, but I think I actually prefer the Manga. Interestingly the credits contains animations from other stories in the same series, more on the way perhaps?

The folks at Akemi's AnimeWorld in this short review call the story "mindless" but "cute" amd "whimsical", I think mindless might be a bit severe but can see where they are coming from.
