The third Tenchi movie, and a very different and weird kettle of fish it is. The plot seems a bit silly to me, but it does allow for an `alternate' love story involving tenchi and a new female character. This also allows us to see what might happen to the rest of the cast should Tenchi be suddenly removed from the equation that bound the ensemble together. There is a strong, but somewhat wistful, romantic atmosphere and the character interaction is slow but well handled. The feel is amazingly different from Daughter of Darkness, but is interesting. The animation is very clean, almost minimal, and the character design is subtly different from what we have seen before. Likewise the backgrounds are painterly, and the ambience subdued. Those who love the Tenchi OAV's and previous movies might find the change a bit much, so watching this before you buy is recommended, but it is definitely worth a try. As far as I understand this movie is designed as a conclusion to the Tenchi TV series.
